Last week, the fashion pack landed in London for four days of shows, shameless selfies, and of course, shoes. The UK capital is known for its eccentric style and off-beat chic – despite the typically wet British weather, there was an abundance of creativity and colour from the feet up. The street style rivalled anything coming down the runway, as show-goers defiantly upped the fashion ante in spite of the rain. London Fashion Week is a place where maximalists reign and you never know what you might find beneath the protective layer of that oh-so-necessary Burberry trench. From the cloud-dispelling burst of an orange pump, to the flirtatious toe cleavage of a peep-toe boot, here are the best footwear trends spotted on the pavements of London.
OPEN TOE BOOTS
It might have been raining, but that didn’t stop the fashion elite from baring their feet in style. Expose some skin with Victoria Beckham’s Jasmin knitted sock boots. Who knew toes could be so tantalising?
ANIMAL KINGDOM
It might have been raining cats and dogs, but zebra, leopard and ponies were the kings of the urban jungle last weekend. Look to Khaite for sophisticated knee-highs, or home-grown UK label Dear Frances for muted pony skin boots.
LACE-UP BOOTS
These boots were made for walking. Think chunky soles, platform heels, and enough laces to put a punk to shame. Black leather is the calling card of this catch-all genre of practical footwear. Anne Demeulemeester’s lace-ups command the attention of boot fetishists with a penchant for butter-soft calfskin and buckles, whilst Gianvito Rossi takes a more refined approach to the sturdy style.
THINK PINK
